Nearly 20 Alcoans and family members helped River Action mark Earth Day week on Saturday by picking up trash and planting flowers and shrubs on Sylvan Island between Moline and the Rock Island Arsenal. Here, Hot Line Manager Susan Ingold doesn't mind a bit of dirt as she plants flowers. After the cleanup, Alcoans had the opportunity to partake in an old-fashioned fish fry.

A Cleveland Pear now calls the Alcoa Commemorative Garden home after being planted in recognition of Worker Memorial Day. Mark Vrablec, Director of Manufacturing; Ernie Huston, IBEW President; and Skip McGill, USWA President; throw on the first dirt on this new edition as other members of union and plant leadership look on.
