Székesfehérvár
Overview
Our future is linked to the future of our communities. And we are driven by the conviction that part of being the best company in the world is being the best company in our communities.

Here are some ways we are involved in the community:

Alcoa adopts the Fejer County Orphanage
Alcoa Wheel Products Europe in Hungary has a lasting relationship with the Fejér County Orphanage which is home to more than 70 children from infancy to 14 years old. In July 2002, more than 80 AWPE Alcoans and their families organized an open house at the orphanage and spent the day building a new playground for the children, painting, repairing toys, planting trees and flowers, cleaning up garbage, and making home a little brighter place for these children. They ended the day with a special celebration for all -- a barbecue for all of the children and the volunteers.

Combined Social Home
In Székesfehérvár, Hungary several elderly people receive food, shelter, care and daily companionship in the Combined Social Home. Alcoa Foundation supported the home's initiative to serve more people by adding a Club for the Elderly, providing the care and comforts of home to many who live alone.

Székesfehérvár recognizes Alcoa's contributions
Phil Collins, right, Köfém manager, accepts a painting of the town from the mayor of Székesfehérvár, as a token of the town's appreciation for the work of Alcoa Foundation in the community.

Székesfehérvár recognizes Alcoa-Köfém for environmental programs
For the second year in a row the city of Székesfehérvár has recognized Alcoa-Köfém for its environmental activities. Alcoa-Köfém and its employees planted 1900 trees last year as part of Alcoa's One Million Trees project. Köfém also provided trees to primary schools in the city. In addition, Köfém partnered with DENSO to sponsor an environmental study program in more than 20 primary schools, including teacher training and classroom materials for the children. The city also cited Alcoa-Köfém for its contributions to rebuilding and landscaping the bus station, and for the ongoing landscaping of Köfém's own facilties.

Alcoa-Kofem Landscapes Neighborhood
A Neighbourhood 5S project has been implemented in a public municipality-owned area surrounding the Alcoa Kofém plant in Székesfehérvár. Two public bus stations and power poles of the local electricity company are located here, all in a deplorable state. At our initiative, and together with the Mayor and the power company we have decided to clean up and landscape the area and repair the objects. The project has been successfully implemented and was celebrated on the spot on June 21, 2002. Ric Belda together with the Mayor and the head of the power company have planted a tree on the newly landscaped area symbolizing their commitment for the community. At the same time, a memorandum was jointly signed by Phil Collins representing Köfém and by the Mayor of Székesfehérvár confirming the commitment to continue working together to improve the environment for the benefit of the neighbourhood. The common Neighbours project further strengthens the good relationship that our Company has built with local authorities and the communities.
