Production capacity of the plant when Alcoa Shanghai was founded in 1995 was less than 1,000 metric tonnes per month. Process improvements and investment in equipment have increased the capacity to over 3,000 metric tones per month currently.
Alcoa Shanghai's main production equipment includes three continuous casting lines, four rolling mills, a doubler, two separators, two heavy gauge slitters, a tension leveler, and 13 annealing furnaces, etc.
Alcoa Shanghai aims to be the best aluminum foil mill in China and the world, by focusing on customers' requirements and achieving continuous improvements in quality and delivery performance. Customer Return Rate is included as a measurable quality objective in Alcoa Shanghai's annual operating plan.
The Alcoa Technical Center (ATC), located in Pittsburgh, USA, provides Alcoa Business Units across the globe with world-leading technical support including cutting-edge technologies for aluminum fabrication. Alcoa Shanghai has successfully cooperated with the ATC in many projects, including the development of new alloys, new products, and solutions tailor-made for individual customers. Alcoa Shanghai also participates actively in technical exchange programs with other Alcoa units.
