PITTSBURGH -- June 5, 2007: Alcoa has experienced significant aluminum powder cost increases related to energy, transportation, labor, and raw materials that have not been passed on to our customers. We have attempted to minimize the impact of these increased costs through manufacturing and overhead cost reductions. However, these actions have not offset the increased input costs to our business and so we must increase prices accordingly. Alcoa is increasing prices for all coarse grades of aluminum powder, effective June 1, 2007 or as contracts allow. Coarse powders, greater than 12 µm average diameter, are to increase 0.15 to 0.30 USD/LB.
