On account of news in the media today, Monday December 15th, Alcoa in Iceland wants to announce that it is incorrect to state that the company has made a decision to put Bakki smelter project plans on hold for a few years.

Support project for immigrants in Thingeyjar Districts receives grant from the Alcoa Foundation A project aimed at helping immigrants in the Thingeyjar Districts become active participants in the community and economy has received a grant from the Alcoa Foundation of over ISK 3 million. The project, which is under the auspices of labour unions in the districts, in collaboration with Nordurthing Municipality, is named "Cooperation and Responsibility in Immigrant Affairs".

Icelandic National Planning Agency agrees initial assessment report on Bakki aluminium smelter In accordance with Article 8 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, the Icelandic National Planning Agency has reviewed Alcoa's proposed environmental assessment plan for an aluminium smelter at Bakki by Husavik, along with the opinions and comments received by the agency.
