Richard L. (Jake) Siewert, Jr.
Vice President, Business Development and Public Strategy

Jake Siewert was appointed vice president, Business Development and Public Strategy for Alcoa in September 2008. He is responsible for Alcoa's business and corporate development, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures. In addition to business development responsibilities, Jake oversees Alcoa's international and U.S. government affairs. He is a member of Alcoa's Executive Council, the senior leadership group that sets strategy for the corporation.

Jake joined Alcoa in 2001 as vice president, global communications and public strategy, and was responsible for overseeing and integrating the company's approach to the media, governments, local communities, and other stakeholders. In 2004, he created the company's first sustainability office, and one year later assumed overall accountability for Alcoa's global environment, health and safety efforts. Jake has led several of the company's acquisition initiatives in China, and he was a key member of the internal Alcoa team that planned and executed the effort to acquire Alcan.

Prior to joining Alcoa, Jake served as the White House press secretary from 2000-2001, where he was principal spokesperson for President Clinton's foreign and domestic policy. Earlier, he was Special Assistant to the President for Economic Affairs for the National Economic Council at the White House. Jake began his career in Washington, D.C. in 1991 as communications director for the Democratic Governors' Association.

He is a 1986 graduate of Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in the Humanities. He also attended the law school of the University of California at Berkeley. He was born February 1, 1964 in New York City and continues to reside in the city with his wife, Christine Anderson. He is the Vice Chairman of Global Kids, a non profit serving New York City public high school students, and serves on the Chairman's Visiting Committee of the New York Public Library.
