Alcoa designed interactive game

Alcoa will hold a “Design for Performance Challenge” at Ferrari’s 60th anniversary celebration, culminating at Ferrari headquarters in Maranello from June 21-25, 2007. The “Design for Performance Challenge” is an interactive game that enables participants to build their own Ferrari and race it against a standard, production-model Ferrari.

“Alcoa is proud to be a Ferrari strategic partner and we’re excited to participate in the 60th anniversary celebration,” said Misha Riveros-Jacobson, president of Alcoa Auto and Truck Structures. “The event gives us an opportunity to demonstrate how Alcoa aluminum has enabled the world-renowned performance of Ferrari’s vehicles.”

The “Design for Performance Challenge” showcases many of the aluminum components that are featured in Ferrari vehicles and lets participants select aluminum or steel components to engineer their own Ferrari. Every person who accepts the challenge will receive a complimentary “Design for Performance Challenge” t-shirt from Alcoa.

In 2006, Alcoa opened a new automotive assembly plant in Modena dedicated to serving Ferrari. The facility represents a further strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two companies that began more than a decade ago. Alcoa is the sole supplier of aluminum space frames for all of Ferrari’s Grand Turismo vehicles.
